The MIMiQA manifesto

Health is something we build together.

Most of what keeps us well doesn’t happen in a clinic. It happens at the kitchen table, on the evening walk, in the hour before bed, and in the conversations we have with the people we trust.

MIMiQA is a home for those conversations. This is why we are building it.

Part one

What we see

Our health is under pressure

  1. Most of us will face health problems.

Genetics, diet, lifestyle, environment and factors we know – and some we don’t yet understand – mean that most people on Earth will live with health problems at some point. Disease and ill health are becoming the norm, not the exception.

  2. We live longer, but not always better.

Populations are ageing. The years we gain are only a gift if they are good years. The goal isn’t just a longer life, it’s more healthy years inside it.

  3. Everyday life shapes our health more than anything else.

Many of the most common long-term conditions are strongly influenced by what we eat, how we move, how we sleep and how we handle stress. And habits are social: we eat, move and rest like the people around us.

  4. Mind and body are one system.

Stress, loneliness, sleep and mood are not side topics. They are part of health, and they deserve the same openness as diet and exercise.

Our systems are stretched

  1. Prevention is cheaper than cure.

Most of us need to invest in our health before it’s too late – and before it becomes too expensive, for ourselves and for everyone else.

  2. The safety net is getting thinner.

The economy is heading into bumpy years, and we will have to find new ways to keep it going. At the same time, states don’t have the resources to offer a high standard of care to everyone who needs it. More of the work of staying well will fall on us – so we should do it together.

  3. Eating well is getting more expensive.

The cheapest food is often the least nourishing. Knowing how to cook a healthy meal for four on a small budget is a kind of wealth, and it grows every time it’s shared.

Trust has moved

  1. We trust the people we know.

People trust their family, friends and acquaintances more than doctors, strangers or AI on the internet. Advice lands when it comes from someone whose life we can see.

  2. In an age of AI, we long for the human.

AI and social media are pushing people towards sources they trust, understand and can relate to. At the same time, we are hungry for genuine human contact and authenticity.

  3. Information is everywhere. Context is rare.

We can look up anything, yet it has never been harder to know what to believe. Wellness has become an industry of miracle cures and products to sell. Lived experience, shared honestly and next to good professional care, is the context that’s missing.

  4. More data, less meaning.

Our watches and apps count steps, beats and hours of sleep. But numbers rarely change a life on their own. People do – the friend who asks how the week went, the group that notices when you go quiet.

The platforms we have work against us

  1. Big Tech sells our attention.

Today’s social media is built around commercial values that often run against what is healthy and good for most of humanity: endless scrolling, outrage, comparison and advertising.

  2. Loneliness is a health risk.

Feeling alone is bad for body and mind. A feed full of strangers doesn’t fix it. Real connection with real people does – community is a form of prevention in itself.

  3. Health data is the most personal data there is.

What we eat, what we fear, what our bodies are going through: it belongs to us. It should never be the product.

Part two

What we believe

  1. Health is daily, not an emergency.

It is built in small choices, repeated. Prevention starts long before the waiting room.

  2. Health is social.

We change through the people around us. The best motivation is someone who walks next to you.

  3. Lived experience is knowledge.

What worked for someone like you is valuable. It complements professional care; it never replaces it.

  4. Trust grows in small circles.

Family, friends and people who share your journey matter more than an audience of thousands.

  5. Your story is yours.

You decide what you share, with whom, and for how long.

  6. Kindness is infrastructure.

No shaming of bodies, diets or choices. Everyone is somewhere on their path.

  7. Health is for everyone.

Not only for the young, the fit or the wealthy. Every age, every body, every starting point.

Part three

What we’re building

We are building a place for genuine human encounters between people who want to take control of their own health – people who want to learn, and who want to share with the ones they love and the ones who understand.

  • Your own profile and wall, where you tell your story: your condition, your treatment, your food, your habits, how you move and how you feel.
  • Public and private groups, where people swap the very human experiences that make a healthy life possible – recipes, routines, setbacks and small wins.
  • A feed that is yours: the people and groups you chose, so it feels personal and honest, not engineered.
Part four

Our promises to you

  1. Your feed is yours.

It shows the people and groups you chose. No algorithm tuned to keep you scrolling.

  2. Your health is never for sale.

We will never sell your data or use your health to target ads.

  3. You choose who sees what.

Only you, your circle, a group or everyone – decided post by post.

  4. Experience, clearly labelled.

Members share what happened to them. We keep a clear line between experience and medical advice, and we encourage everyone to bring what they learn to their care team.

  5. Safe and kind by design.

We moderate for kindness and safety, and we act on misinformation that can cause harm.

  6. We measure what matters.

Success is people feeling better and closer, not minutes spent on a screen.

Start before it’s too late. Start small. Start together.
